Nutrition

Boulder Creek Elementary School participates in the National School Breakfast and Lunch programs, which help to foster nutritious eating habits.

Menus are analyzed annually to ensure that nutrient standards established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture are met.

The National School Lunch Program provides students who meet certain criteria free or reduced-price meals. Applications are available in our school cafeteria.

Please visit the Lunch Menus webpage for additional information, breakfast menus, and online meal payments.

Classroom Snacks and Birthday Celebration Guidelines

We recognize the importance of healthy snacks along with celebrating student birthdays. To serve as role models for our students when making nutritional decisions and to be responsive to those children who have food allergies or other dietary restrictions, we suggest the following guidelines with regards to snacks and birthday treats at school.

If your child's teacher allows snacks during the school day, students in all grades will bring their own snacks from home.  This is to ensure that each child has food that is safe for him/her.  Please only send dry snacks such as pretzels, granola bars, raisins, etc. Fruit cups, applesauce, yogurt, and pudding cups (if it must be eaten with a spoon) are discouraged. Punch and soda of any kind are not permitted. Popsicles are only permitted or used for special outside events.

Please remember that due to certain latex allergies, balloons of any kind are never permitted in the school.

These guidelines and rules will apply to classroom parties.

We ask that for birthday celebrations, food should be brought in only if PRIOR arrangements have been made with the teacher.

Classroom celebrations should follow healthy food guidelines. These guidelines are in no way meant to prohibit birthday celebrations, but to encourage a healthy alternative way to celebrate.

All foods must be pre-packaged and store brought.
